Functions of Upazila Parishad

** All matters relating to Upazila Parishad funds.
** Regarding the discretion of the council to spend out of funds.
** Proposal to levy taxes, rates, tolls and fees.
** Annual budget of Upazila Parishad, annual accounts and revised budget.
** Audit of expenditure of Upazila Parishad.
** To make five-year and various term development plans.
** To implement the programs of various government departments handed over to the council and to supervise and coordinate the work of those departments.
** Processing of various contracts for implementation of work by the council.
** Formation of various committees and sub-committees.

** Review of law and order situation in the upazila.
** Review of relief and rehabilitation work in the upazila.
* Approval of work and estimate of work to be implemented by Upazila Parishad.
** Review, monitor and evaluate the progress of all types of development work implemented.
** Review the implementation of all decisions taken by the council.
** Other matters of public interest.
